United South End Settlements is established.

December 31, 1959

Formerly the Federation of South End Settlements, its headquarters are located at 20 Union Park. An umbrella organization of social services agencies, it is made up of the Community Services Center, Children’s Art Centre, Hale House, Harriet Tubman House, Shawmut Neighborhood Center, South End House, South End Union, and the Youth Opportunity Center. The Ellis Memorial decides to leave the organization. Located in one of the first branches of the original South End House, it moves to its current location on Columbus Avenue in 1976.*
